Former WWE Champion Randy Orton is one of those young Superstars, and although he cannot flaunt gold to his dad - WWE Hall of Famer “Cowboy” Bob Orton - this Father’s Day, he will take dear ol’ dad’s advice on how to become champ once again.

“I call him after every Raw and he’ll watch. He critiques different things that I do,” said Orton of his father. “Just being around him helps. I think we have a lot of the same mannerisms, we have the same punch. I think a lot of that attributes to my success today.”

Being a former World Heavyweight Champion, Intercontinental Champion and World Tag Team Champion as well, that is a lot of success to thank your father for, Randy.

Bob Orton mention on Jim Ross' Blog
Posted By: DJ 31 May 2008 0 Comments

Jim Ross has a small mention of Ace in his blog this week:

"The Ted DiBiase book that we reviewed here a few days ago is out on June 10. If you missed our review, you can still read it in the archived section of the site. I suggest you check out this 241 page, easy but informative read which focuses on Ted’s wrestling career and not that much on his Christianity. What do you think the next step for young Ted Dibiase will be who, BTW, looks like a young Bob Orton to me?"

Wrestling 'legends' to perform Saturday
Posted By: DJ 11 Apr 2008 0 Comments

The Old School Wrestling Alliance is coming to Galesburg this weekend.

The Knights of Columbus are hosting the OSWA Wrestling Fest 2008 on Saturday. Fans will get to see pro wrestling greats like Bob Orton Jr., Koko B. Ware, Greg Valentine and Kamala in person.

The wrestling event comes courtesy of OSWA owner Bryan Barrett, who is a Moline native and wrestled for 17 years under the moniker “Big Daddy.”

The itinerary starts with a free seminar from 1 to 4 p.m. The pro wrestlers will teach the audience about wrestling basics and will even allow some participants to get in the ring with the wrestlers to learn some moves and learn how to fall correctly. Any participants who wish to go into the ring need to sign a waiver.

Barrett said he spent two years at a wrestling school before he ever stepped into the ring professionally, and that one of the messages will be to not try those wrestling moves at home.

The feature wrestling matches begin at 7:30 p.m. and advance tickets are available.

Ring-side seats are limited and cost $30. Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults, $10 for kids. For advance tickets, go to the Knights of Columbus, located at 1556 E. Fremont St., or call Barrett at 309-797-6202.

Visit Tennessee Mountain Wrestling
Posted By: DJ 30 Jan 2008 6 Comments

Bob Orton is involved with Tennessee Mountain Wrestling and is in their Hall of Fame. He will also be training wrestlers there. He wrote a piece on the site about what the Tennessee area means to him:
"Wrestling fans there is no other place than Knoxville, Tennessee that we could start the Hall of Fame Wrestling Show. I’m coming to Knoxville for the Hall of Fame Wrestling Show and I’ve got a lot of guys that I’m bringing to the hall of Fame. The Bullet Bob Armstrong, Ronnie Garvin, Ron Wright, former WWE wrestling champion - Mr. Fuji, Jimmy Golden, former WCW Champion Buff Bagwell, the Dirty White Boy - Tony Anthony. There will be other wrestlers put into the hall of fame at the legends show in Knoxville this summer.

I believe everyone knows the WWE has been good to the Orton family. I’m in the WWE 2005 Hall of Fame and my son, Randy Orton, is the WWE Heavyweight Champion. I lived in Knoxville in the late seventies and my son Randy was born at UT hospital in Knoxville, TN. I moved to St. Louis staying in contact with Terry Landell all these years. Terry tells me there is a problem in Knoxville and I will be standing behind him for what ever needs to be done. He has worked in wrestling around Knoxville since 1985. There’s been a lot of good talent that he has given breaks to around Knoxville, maybe some folks I would not have given breaks to, because you’ve got to pay your dues. There are a lot of guys that think, just because they’ve got wresting boots and trunks they’re wrestlers.

Most of you wrestling fans realize there is more to wrestling than just buying a wrestling ring and a pair of boots and tights. Training is available to be a wrestler. Train with the best, Tennessee Mountain Wrestling (TMW), there is history behind TMW."

Their next show is on February 2, where Bob Orton Jr. defends the TMW Heavy Weight Title.

Bob Orton to attend hockey game as part of "Tribute to Wrestling Day"
Posted By: DJ 24 Jan 2008 0 Comments

Milwaukee, WI--Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced today that five famous (and infamous) wrestling legends will be attending the February 10th game versus the Peoria Rivermen at 4:00 pm at the Bradley Center in the team's annual "Tribute to Wrestling Day." Making appearances will be "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Jimmy Hart, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Scotty 2 Hotty and the Iron Sheik.

Professional wrestling has been a family affair for "Cowboy" Bob Orton, who was a 2005 inductee to the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame. His father Bob "The Big O" Orton wrestled professionally until 2000, and his son Randy is the current reigning WWE champion. Orton is most widely remembered for the "Superplex", a move he made famous and used to end nearly all of his matches. Since his beginning in professional wrestling Orton has teamed up with his father and son, most notably when he aided his son in taking on The Undertaker at the WWE's Armageddon 2005. Read more ?
